Basin and tap: the right pairing

Tap height is only one factor: spout reach, basin shape and waste fittings matter too.

Compare your options

Your situationWhat to consider
Countertop bowlCompare a tall deck-mounted tap with a wall-mounted model. Measure usable clearance above the basin rim.
Basin with tap holeTap-hole diameter, ceramic thickness and hose clearance must match the tap’s mounting requirements.
Wall-mounted tapSet the basin position and finished wall thickness before rough-in. Spout length determines where the water lands.

Details that change the result

Draw the water’s path

Mark the spout outlet, rim and basin floor on a section drawing. A very tall tap over a small shallow bowl deserves a splash check, even if both share the same style.

Look for a tested pairing

Hansgrohe ExcellentFit results document specific pairings tested for clearance and splashing. A tap’s ComfortZone name does not, by itself, validate every basin.

Complete the under-basin fittings

Check whether the basin has an overflow, then choose the appropriate waste. Draw the trap and hoses inside the cabinet: an internal drawer may occupy the same space.

A pairing may serve a technical function or coordinate a style. Each set states the criterion used.
